Night Images

I wanted to post another blog focusing on the night images. I took this HDR image the night after all of the rain. The only thing that was an issue was the high winds. Which threw any type of peaceful reflection shot right out the window. But I knew with long shutter speeds I could smooth over the water. The wind was creating about foot high waves off the reflecting pool. I hope you enjoy.

Washington DC

This past weekend I got together with some friends for a photo jaunt of the cherry blossom's in Washington. I'm still working on processing of the images but I think this best exemplifies the trip. Full of rain and crowds high school field trip groups. We spent most of the time capturing some great night shots of the Mall but we also saved time to get completely drenched during the day. luckily the camera stayed dry. I hope you enjoy.

Sping is around the corner

Finally the signs of spring are coming around the corner. On my drive home I looked over at a local business. And noticed the grass was green! It's differently a great feeling to not have to worry about snow for change. I took this shot of a Hybrid Cineraria at Longwood Gardens. To me it feels like a preamble to the spring colors. Taking off

I finally finished processing through all of my Middle Creek shots. Other shooting jaunts seem to come up, and it takes a little longer then normal. I really liked this shot. I had narrow depth of field. I what I wanted was there. The other geese in the area provided a good frame too. But I wanted a better impact. So applied my selective color tool. So the real attention getter would be the single geese taking off. I hope you enjoy.

Soft B&W with selective color

The nice part of being winter is being close to Longwood Gardens. On a dreary cloudy day you take a little trip down to the Longwood Conservatory which is always springing with life!I took this HDR image with my soft f/x filter in color but wanted to add more impact into the shot. So using gray scale mapping I converted it to black & white, but used selective color to bring out the flowers in the bottom. I think it's important to experiment like this to bring out the creativity in someone. But also can get to easy to go out and do the same thing you saw some else do. I hope you enjoy.

Flying in unison

This past weekend I made a trip up to the Middle Creek Wildlife area. To

photograph the migration of the Canadian Snow Geese. It was actually pretty fun shooting these birds. This one really caught my eye because all of the birds on the outside were in unison while the one on the inside is different. I'm still rifling through images but I will be posting them on my website as get them done. Hope you enjoy.

Converging lines

One of the basic techniques that get used in photography to draw attention your subject. Is the technique of lines. Here I have the fence and the shadow of the fence to lead the eye to the house. Also I used a great depth of field (high f-stop) to make everything in focus.

This is a house at the Landis Valley Muesuem. I went there to just to work on some morning shadows. I hope you enjoy.
